Why Is a Service Line Item Missing When I Create an Invoice In The Generator?

If you’re creating an invoice and a monthly (recurring) service line isn’t appearing, it’s usually not an error — it’s the system preventing duplicate billing.

Skimmer’s Invoice Generator keeps track of previously generated invoices to help protect you from accidentally charging the same customer twice for the same service period.

❓ Why Is the Service Line Not Showing?

The Invoice Generator checks:

  • What service period you’re billing for

  • Whether that service has already been invoiced

If the system detects that the customer has already been invoiced for that month, it won’t pull in the full service line item again.

This is intentional — it prevents double billing.

🗓 Example Scenario

Let’s say:

  • You generated an invoice for a customer covering February service but you marked some of the dosages as "do not invoice".

  • Later, you return to the Invoice Generator

  • You select that same customer and the same January date range again

The system will recognize that January has already been billed and will not re-add that full monthly service line, but it will show the dosages that you did not bill for from that period.

✅ What Should I Do?

If a service line isn’t appearing:

  1. Check the customer’s invoice history.

  2. Confirm whether that service period has already been invoiced.

  3. Adjust your date range or customer selection if needed.

If the month has already been billed, no further action is needed.
